I have been thinking of undertaking an aggressive endeavor – making ornaments from the Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornaments Issue (of which I have 3 back issues of). If you’re a cross-stitcher like me, you probably have hundreds of patterns, threads, fabrics, projects in various states of finishing. For 2010 I already have over 40 projects kitted and ready to do, including two baby projects and another Christmas stocking. So adding 52 small projects to the mix may sound insane! But as my husband likes to say – I’m a little odd.
So starting 1/1/2010 – Project Yuletide 2010 commences. I am getting prepared by choosing the 4 ornaments I will work on in January. My plans may change, but my plan is to stitch the ornaments I want to do in that month first (average of 4), and then do the finishing. I will try and set aside time during the week so weekends can be reserved for other projects.
And another thing – usually I just pay good money to get my pieces frames. So making pillows, sewing on tassels and cording – this should be fun.
I have already picked out the four ornaments I want to do in January – they are:
2009 Issue – Snow Merry by Homespun Elegance and Plaid Greetings by Ladybug Lane Designs
2008 Issue – Walt the Malt by Raise the Roof Designs
2007 Issue – Joy by Lizzie Kate
It will also be interesting to see how much I can accomplish from my stash and how much will require purchase. Where possible I will substitute fibers and fabric. I will most likely need to purchase embellishments and cording/ribbon. I am checking with a friend to see if she has scraps of backing for backing fabric.
The internet is down (I’m writing this on a word doc). Later I will inventory for the first four ornaments and make the necessary purchases for the cross-stitch portion.
